About Turner
Turner Amplifiers were designed and manufactured by Mike Turner in Ealing from the 70's until the late 80's. Four models were manufactured: The A300, A500, B302 and the B502. The A-series was designed for studio, and the B-series for live applications, but both were designed to work hard.
Mike became acquainted with Robin Mayhew, who demonstrated a Turner driven PA to David Bowie just as he began his Ziggy Stardust period in early 1972. He liked the sound so much that he appointed Robin as his front of house sound engineer until Bowie's final concert as Ziggy Stardust in July 1973. Robin is now working on new project named Refuse To Lose, and continues to use a Turner A500 in his studio to drive his monitor speakers.
Mike is now enjoying semi-retirement in the Sussex countryside and continues to design new products. He's also keen to see his range of power amps maintained and used - this is why he has appointed The Amplifier Man as point of contact for the repair and service of all Turner amplifiers.
